A Weekend with Kids

We have divided the program into tips for younger children and school-age kids—Banská Štiavnica is enjoyable for children of all ages; you just need to adjust the pace to the youngest family member.

Day 1 — Home in Svätý Anton

Morning — Park and Manor House

A leisurely walk through the park at the manor house (30–60 minutes). Younger children: space to run and search for owls in the old trees. School-age children: a tour of the manor house and the Hunting Museum (approx. 1 hour, recommended).

Afternoon — Water

Drive to Počúvadlo Lake (approx. 13 km). In summer, enjoy swimming; off-season, take a walk around the shore (60–90 minutes, depending on the children's mood). With younger children, stay near the shore close to the entrance; older kids can manage the full circuit.

An alternative in Štiavnické Bane: the quieter Evička Lake or Vindšachta Lake with a sandy beach for kids (please check current operations before your trip).

Evening

Cooking together in the fully equipped kitchen — the evening belongs to the kids.

Day 2 — Banská Štiavnica Tailored for Kids

Morning — Underground or City Model

School-age children: Mining Museum in Nature with the Bartolomej adit (90–100 minutes, per operator). Bring warmer clothing for the adit — it is cooler underground than outside.

Younger children: Model of Banská Štiavnica (20–40 minutes) or creative workshops at Kammerhof.

Afternoon — Forest Play

Kysihýbel Arboretum — playful forest exploration (45–90 minutes) — or Belian forest park.

Evening

Return home, pack, and have a peaceful end to the weekend — do not plan any more stops for the children on departure day.

Extra Days

If you stay longer, head to other lakes or choose a cycle route — young children can handle shorter segments near Banská Štiavnica.
