Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk
A roadside Baroque chapel dating back to 1755–1758 in Svätý Anton, featuring original interior frescoes and the Koháry family crest above the portal.
This Baroque square-plan building with a shingle roof was constructed between 1755 and 1758. Its dynamic facade is decorated with paired pilasters, the entrance features a decorative Rococo grille, and the Koháry coat of arms sits proudly above the portal. When the painter Anton Schmidt arrived in Svätý Anton in 1755 at the invitation of Andrej Koháry, his work became deeply linked to this chapel; the interior is richly and artistically adorned with original frescoes, preserved in a rare stylistic unity without later modifications. The chapel was never a place of burial; today, it is a serene space where villagers, regional visitors, and pilgrims traveling toward the UNESCO region often meet. It serves as a perfect addition to a stroll through the historical park by the manor house.
