A botanical garden within the grounds of the Mining Academy, home to over 200 species of trees from around the world. The giant sequoias and the Lebanon cedar look best when photographed from below.

Banská Štiavnica Not specified 20–40 minutes (recommended) EasySeason: Spring, Summer, Autumn

The garden is situated on the grounds of one of the world's first technical academies. You will find over 200 species of trees from all corners of the globe, along with benches perfect for resting legs tired from walking the steep streets of Banská Štiavnica. The most impressive sights are the giant sequoias and the Lebanon cedar, which make you look like a tiny speck — we recommend taking photos from below, as it is the only way to capture the trees in their entirety. The Štiavnická Anča tourist train also makes a stop here. You can learn more about the history of the site by visiting the Mining Academy buildings.

Why it is worth a visit

Giant sequoias and a Lebanon cedar that make you feel tiny, plus a peaceful rest on benches nestled among rare trees.
